Decent selection, slow support

I bought a few vector illustrations for a client project. The selection was quite good, managed to find exactly what I needed without too much digging. The download process was straightforward after I bought the credit pack. My only minor gripe was that I had a question about licensing for one of the images, and customer service took almost 24 hours to get back to me. It wasn't urgent, but it felt a little slow compared to other sites I've used. Still, the images themselves were high quality and the pricing was competitive with the credit pack savings.

Consistent image quality

I've been using Alamy for a while now, mostly for editorial photography. This latest purchase of some live news photos was just as smooth as always. The search tools are pretty reliable for finding specific events, and the image quality has always been consistent across my orders. They're my go-to for breaking news shots because they just deliver every time. No issues downloading or with licensing.

Found great travel photos

So I was looking for some travel photography for my blog, like some cool panoramic images. Alamy popped up, and I figured I'd give it a shot. Honestly, I found some really beautiful shots, way better than I expected. The site was pretty easy to navigate, didn't get lost trying to find stuff. Downloading was simple too, just a click and it was on my computer. Everything worked out well, happy with what I got.

Good stock photo site

Needed a quick image for a project. Found a good royalty-free image easily. Download was fast. Prices were fair. Got what I needed without hassle. Will use again.

Do they ever do big sales? Like around holidays or something? Thinking of waiting if a Black Friday sale is coming up.

J Josh 2 months ago

Oh yeah, totally. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are usually big for them. I've seen some good deals pop up then, definitely worth waiting if you can.

M Marcus 2 months ago

They do seasonal sales quite often. Black Friday and End of Year are pretty reliable for stock photo deals across the board, Alamy included.

Can I use images downloaded from Alamy for commercial stuff, like on my business's website or ads?

T Tom 2 months ago

Yes, you can, but you need to make sure you get the right license. Royalty-Free is usually fine for most commercial uses, just read the specifics.

R Raj N. 2 months ago

Absolutely, that's what a lot of people use it for. Just pay attention to whether it's 'Royalty Free' or 'Rights Managed' – Rights Managed images have more restrictions on how and where you can use them.

if i get an image pack and then decide i don't need all the images, can i get a refund for the unused ones?

J Julia A. 2 months ago

Hmm, I think refunds are usually for if there's an issue with the image itself or if you accidentally bought the wrong license. For unused credits, I'm not sure they refund those.

D Dan Foster 1 month ago

I've only ever gotten a refund for a specific image that had a technical problem. For unused credits in a pack, you'd probably have to check their exact policy, but I wouldn't count on it unless stated.

my promo code isn't working at checkout, anyone know why this happens? it's for a new user thing.

T Tom P. 2 months ago

Could be expired, or maybe you've used it before on a different email? Sometimes they're specific for certain types of images too.

J Jared Lindqvist 2 months ago

Make sure you're not trying to stack it with another offer. Also, sometimes new user codes are only for specific license types or image packs, not everything.

hey, was thinking of getting some images for my website, do they offer anything for new users? like a first time buyer discount?

S Shane 2 months ago

yeah, i got 15% off my first order when I signed up for their newsletter a few months back. always worth checking.

R Raj Bennett 2 months ago

They usually have something like that. I think it's often 10-20% for first purchases. It shows up in the checkout usually or you get a code.

Is Alamy actually legit? I keep seeing ads but sometimes these stock photo sites feel a bit sketchy.

A Anna 2 months ago

Totally legit. Been using them for years for work projects, never had an issue with licenses or anything.

N Neil 2 months ago

Yeah, they're one of the bigger ones, not a scam or anything. Up there with Getty or Shutterstock reputation-wise.

I'm looking for a bunch of images, not just one or two. Is there a way to save money if I buy a bulk amount?

N Neil Kim 2 months ago

Yep, definitely. They have these credit packs which are way cheaper per image than buying them individually. The more credits you buy, the bigger the discount.

C Carly Patel 2 months ago

volume discounts are a thing. i usually grab a credit pack when i know i'll need a bunch of images over time. saves a decent chunk.

how does alamy stack up against like, shutterstock? i'm trying to decide between a couple of services.

C Chris 2 months ago

Alamy usually has a more diverse, sometimes 'quirkier' collection, less generic than Shutterstock. Good for unique stuff. Shutterstock might have more of the super mainstream commercial shots.

D Dana 2 months ago

Pricing can be different. Alamy sometimes feels like it has more 'real' or editorial photos. Shutterstock often has bigger libraries of typical stock photos. Depends what you need.
